Michael Kors, known for his classic American sportswear, brought the edge at his spring 2010 runway show. From the clothes to the makeup, it looks like Kors is heading in a more modern direction. He was even quoted as saying that if Lady Gaga lived on Park Avenue and had a kid, these are the clothes she would be wearing.
I'm loving the backstage beauty at his show - with the focus on the eyes by way of vibrant shades of purple. I've always been a huge fan of purple shadow; it totally makes brown eyes pop. (Try orange for blue eyes and green for hazel). Makeup pro Dick Page created the candy colored eyelids using Shiseido. Champagne and pink cream eyeshadows were applied first as a base, then Page lined eyes in black cream liner, both top and bottom. (Most people don't do this, myself included, but you're actually supposed to line your eyes before you do the shadow). GR 222, a sheer aqua was brushed on lids, topped with PR 399, a vibrant amethyst. GD 824, a gold shadow, was added to the inner corners for bright eyed look. Eyes were then lined underneath using a damp brush and more of PR 399.
When eyes are this bold it's best to keep the rest of the face pretty neutral - Page only used gold and white highlighting powders, a touch of bronzer and sheer rose lipstick.
I'll definitely be trying this out. I get so bored with the same old browns, bronzes and beiges. What do you think of candy colored eyes?
