Beat the Heat with tarte

It has been all sorts of humid lately, and I don't know about you, but it is showing all over my face in the form of shine and makeup lasting about 5 minutes. tarte cosmetics has your summertime makeup solution in the form of a new collection of waterproof, smudgeproof makeup.

The collection includes:
emphasEYES™ waterproof clay eye shadow & liner pot: Available in five shades: bronze, black, indigo, plum, and brown. This liner is infused with Amazonian white clay and contains a natural waterproofing agent. It also comes with a double ended brush for flawless application.

Park Avenue Princess bronzer is such a fantastic shade - not too muddy/orange/looks natural, and this new version is matte and waterproof, just what the doctor ordered for maintaining a non-greasy summer glow. Shimmer on sweaty skin is bad news so unless you're super dry, this bronzer is perfect for the summer.

multiplEYE ™ natural lash enhancing waterproof mascara is infused with a proprietary peptide that stimulates lashes to help boost length and strength. This is “step 3” in the multiplEYE regimen. Waterproof mascara is an absolute must for the summer; totally worth having to jackhammer it off at the end of the day.

ReCreate™ silicone-free primer with Wrinkle Rewind™ technology is perfect for sensitive, oily skin types because it's free of silicone, features anti-agers built in and helps boost moisture content. Plus it keeps makeup in place all day - what more could you ask for from your primer!?

Also, three new shades of 24/7 lip sheer (a fave product of mine for the perfect pop of color when you aren't looking for a full coverage lipstick moment. The new shades are Sunday (shimmery pink) Dawn (shimmering golden nude) and Twilight (shimmering peach nude).

Everything is available now at the tarte website.

The Perfect Summer Eye Palette

 When I saw Clarins Instant Sun Light Eyeshadow palette I thought now this has bitnb written all over it. I'm a major beauty adventurer and will literally try anything, but when I think of my go-to eye look, it's definitely a peachy, goldeny, bronzy brown moment.

Not only does this palette look gorge (I almost don't want to use it for fear of ruining the pretty gold shimmer overlay), but it contains everything you need to create a warm shimmery eye, or a more dramatic smoky situation.

Four shades from L to R are: pearly ginger (shimmery champagne-peach), iridescent cinnamon (a shimmery copper), matte cocoa (medium to dark brown), and sparkling paprika (shimmery peachy melon). Plus on the far right is a gel liner (super staying power!) in a chocolate brown with gold shimmer, which reminds me of my fave cream liner, Clinique Brush On Cream Liner in Chocolate Lustre that was a limited edition and no longer available.

Plus $36 for all that is a total steal in my opinion and this is definitely one of those wear everyday until a tiny speck remains palettes. Pick it up at the Clarins website by clicking here. If you spend $75 you get to choose from four deluxe skin care collections so shop away!

MAC To The Beach

I can always count on MAC to deliver totally fab color collections, but they come out with so many (a-hem, 50 per year to be exact) that sometimes by the time you get around to talking about one, another has already debuted and things get lost in the shuffle. MAC's new To The Beach collection is the makeup collection for summer. Featuring gorgeous pinks, peaches and corals, with bronzes, golds and brights like green, the best part about this new collection is the fab packaging with starfish, seahorses and seashells galore.

The standout of the collection? Marine Life High-Light Powder, a multi-tasking coral-pink powder with shimmer that can easily be used as blush because of its rich pigment. It's also just so damn nice to look at with its seahorse and seaweed underwater embossed scene. Full details on MAC To The Beach are below.

New for Summer: Essie Resort Collection

I've been having a major love affair with nail polish as of late, and I'm loving the new Essie Resort collection for this summer. Sprinkled with ocean blues and turquoises, mixed with silver platinums and purply pink shades, this new collection screams summer vacation. I recently decked my nails out in Lapis of Luxury, a true ocean blue and got a ton of compliments. Pick up the 4-piece mini collection for $17, or the full size bottles for $8 each. Big tip: I went to Ulta where they're currently having a buy two get one free sale on Essie and OPI nail colors.

Essie Resort Collection:
Lapis of Luxury - a creamy, ocean blue. I recommend a three coat job for this color, because it can turn out pretty sheer.

Splash of Grenadine - a bright magenta pink.

Playa Del Platinum - a sheer, sandy grey. Reminds me of white sand beaches!

Turquoise & Caicos - a tropical aqua shade. I've actually been to Turks and Caicos, and this is exactly what the water looks like!

PS. a huge happy bday to the most fabulous mom in the world, mine of course, the Big D! My sisters and I like to call her the Big D because she's actually one of the tiniest people ever at 5'0.

NARS Summer 2010 Collection

I have been a NARS fanatic for what feels like forever, and I am beyond in love with the new Summer 2010 Collection, as seen on Amber Valletta and inspired by Catherine Deneuve's Severine in the movie Belle de Jour. The look is super sophisticated, yet still has all of the beautiful colors we associate with summer. I'm really feeling all the peaches and ocean blues, with apricot and champagne thrown in the mix.

Enchanted Cream Blush, $26
A soft-peach cream blush that delivers a hint of shimmer and smooth, silky color

Burn It Blue Duo Cream Eyeshadow, $32
This iridescent ocean-blue paired with turquoise creates a lively duo cream eyeshadow

Cayenne Cream Eyeshadow, $22
A spicy, deep brown cream eyeshadow that is intensely rich yet carries a weightless texture

Love Devotion Lipstick, $24
A nourishing, long-lasting sheer guava lipstick

Coup de Coeur Lip Gloss, $24
Just like the French phrase it’s named after, this shiny, sheer apple-brandy tinted lip gloss is sure to yield love at first sight

Lamu Multiple, $38
A fresh, glazed-apricot shade with gold sparkles to create shimmering accents

Versailles Nail Polish, $16
Regal and opalescent, this champagne-gold nail hue shimmers, creating a light-catching tint and gilded sophistication

The Nars Cosmetics 2010 Summer Collection is available beginning tomorrow at narscosmetics.com. Buy up everything; you get free shipping with purchases over $50.

New for Summer: Les Pop-Up de Chanel

This new summer collection from Chanel isn't on counter until May, but I just had to talk about it now because the colors are so beautiful I can't stop staring at them. I've always said, if money was no object, I would be in head to toe Chanel everyday - there's just something so iconic and amazingly decadent about the brand, even if we're just talking about nail polish and lip gloss here. Chanel has been known to be ahead of the beauty curve (lest we forget it single-handedly turned black nail polish from goth to trendy) and this summer collection is no exception.

Vibrant pops of color, including neon pink, sunny coral and brilliant turquoise are beautifully complemented by bronzed, glowing skin. After a winter that felt like it dragged on for years rather than months, these colors just make me picture laying at the beach or by the pool.

Here's the lowdown on the new products:

Le Vernis ($23.00) (Limited Edition)

    * Mistral Soft pink
    * Nouvelle Vague Turquoise
    * Riviera Intense pink

Rouge Allure Lip Colour ($32.00) (Limited Edition)

    * Super Rose
    * Genial Coral

Levres Scintillantes (Glossimer) (Limited Edition)

    * Bikini Peach Soft Pink

Aqualumiere ($29.00) (Limited Edition)

    * Bondi Light copper

Aqualumiere Gloss ($27.00) (Limited Edition)

    * Bondi Beach Rose gold

Gloss Fluo de Chanel ($27.00) (Limited Edition)

    * Laser Pink
    * Pop Coral

Soleil Tan de Chanel ($50.00) (Limited Edition)

    * Terre d’ore
    * Terre Halee
