Must Have: MAC Peacocky Collection

MAC introduces about a bazillion collections each year and sometimes it's a process to navigate through all the new products; which is the exact reason I really only cover the collections that I consider must haves. MAC Peacocky Collection feels like classic MAC to me, which I love. It's not about kitschy packaging or campaigns, it's about amazing colors and formulas that are richly pigmented.

The Mega Metal shadows in particular are the perfect eye shadows. The formulas are super pigmented, really smooth, can be used wet or dry and the color selection is divine - neutrals with some pops of color. Quick note though - as the name implies they do have a shimmery, metallic finish, so if you're into matte, these may not be for you.

New for Fall: Chanel Ombres Contraste Duo

Eyeshadow can sometimes be a tricky animal, with the which shade goes with what problem. Chanel has the solution with the new Ombres Contraste Duo/Eyeshadow duo. Each pairing houses two complementary shades in two unique textures.

The shimmery light shade is a creamy powder that can be worn alone for a radiant sparkly look, as a base to the deeper shade, or as a highlight around the inner corners and brow bones. The deeper shade is a richly pigmented matte meant to contour and create depth.

Check out the shade pairings below:

  • Khaki-Clair Hunter green / Ivory
  • Taupe-Delicat Brown taupe / Soft peach
  • Berry-Rose Plum rose / Soft pink
  • Misty-Soft Plum brown / Lavender grey
  • Bleu-Tendre Navy / Silver blue
  • Gris-Subtil Grey / Silver
My favorite duo is Misty-Soft, which is top right in the pic. Something about the plummy brown and soft lavender grey has me excited for the upcoming fall season.

Fall 2010 Collections: Clinique Bigger, Brighter Eyes

Clinique's new fall collection, available now, centers around brightening and defining eyes, a concept near and dear to my heart since I feel like my eye area is always a little lackluster. The two limited edition newbies are Quickliner for Eyes Intense, a silky smooth liner with rich pigment, and High Impact Mascara in Brightening Black, a rich black that looks like it's spiked with a hint of navy.

Bigger, Brighter Eyes is broken down into three looks: Fresh, Fun and Flirty and all product recos can be found on the Clinique site. That's the Fresh look to the left.

Clinique's fall collection is definitely a step away from the typical deep wines and grays we see for the season. I'm feeling the lightened up look. What do you think?

Whitney's Secret to Boosting Her Brows

What's the secret to Whitney Port's full, yet perfectly polished brows? According to her makeup artist Lisa Garner, it's Talika Eyebrow Extender. Says Garner: "I love to use Talika's Eyebrow Extender when doing Whitney Port's eyebrows. Not only do the fibers build a natural looking brow, the gel really keeps them in place... so they looked beautifully groomed all night long."

I love a full brow, and as someone with anorexic ones, it's not easy to achieve and still have natural results. Thanks to the magic fibers in Talika Eyebrow Extender, we all can have Whit's natural but still groomed look.
